Physical Education and Sport

At Park Academy, Physical Education (PE) is a key part of the curriculum that focuses on developing a variety of physical skills that will serve pupils well throughout their lives. PE not only teaches children the basics of different sports but also educates them about the importance of a healthy lifestyle. We provide pupils with practical ways to maintain good health, emphasising activities they can continue into adulthood.

In terms of skills, our PE programme is designed to build both substantive and procedural knowledge. Substantive knowledge involves the basic rules, techniques, and strategies for different sports and physical activities. Procedural knowledge, on the other hand, is about how to apply these rules and techniques in real-world situations, like how to work as part of a team in a basketball game or how to maintain a balanced diet for optimal performance.

Beyond the techniques and rules of individual sports, PE at Park Academy also addresses disciplinary knowledge, such as the importance of fairness, equality, and teamwork. These are values we believe are vital for personal growth and community well-being. Pupils learn how to cooperate with one another, how to play fairly, and how to respect the rules, all of which are important life skills. Our aim to equip our pupils with the skills, knowledge, and values they need to lead healthy, active, and fulfilling lives.
